Vance and Krassenstein Clash Over Military Strike
Vice President JD Vance recently responded to liberal commentator Brian Krassenstein, who had accused him of endorsing war crimes following a U.S. military strike on a Venezuelan drug ship.
The back-and-forth began when Vance tweeted, “Killing the members of the cartel that poisons our fellow citizens is the highest and best use of our army.” Krassenstein retorted, asserting, “Killing the citizens of other countries, who are civilians without justification, is called a war crime.”
Vance’s reply was blunt: “I don’t give a shit what you call it.”

Krassenstein continued to press the issue, referencing international law and arguing that such actions could amount to extrajudicial killings. He posed a hypothetical question about how Vance would react if Venezuela targeted an American drug-carrying boat.
This heated exchange followed President Donald Trump’s announcement of a strike on the Venezuelan drug carrier in the Southern Caribbean Sea, claiming 11 casualties. Trump stated that the operation targeted members of Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan criminal group labeled a foreign terrorist organization by CBS News. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the action as a “fatal strike” against a vessel operated by a designated narco-terrorist group.
During a visit to Minneapolis, Vance responded to reporters’ inquiries regarding the legality of the strike, brushing off any concerns. “There are people who bring in legal authority, terrorists, and bring deadly drugs into our country,” he said. “The U.S. President ran with a promise to stop this poison from coming to our country. Any other questions?”
The administration accused the Venezuelan government of collaborating with the cartel to smuggle drugs into the United States.
