‘I Love DC’: Woman Crawls Home After Being Beaten, Maced And Robbed

A woman reportedly crawled home after being beaten, mauled and robbed in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.

Three people reportedly attacked the 26-year-old victim just before midnight, leaving him injured as he crawled back to his home on 2nd Street NW. Fox 5 DC report.

“I love D.C.,” the victim said. “It saddens me to think that this will change my experience of Washington, D.C., and the way I interact with my neighborhood and the space around me.”

The suspects stole the woman's wallet, which contained her ID, insurance card, and debit and credit cards, according to a police report. The victim's girlfriend's iPhone was also stolen after her phone was unlocked at the attacker's request.

The newspaper said the woman told police she felt a knife in her side after her attackers pushed her to the ground. She also said she was sprayed with mace in the face multiple times while she was on the ground. (Related: Carjacker fatally shoots former Trump official, police say)

“I'm definitely upset,” the victim told the outlet. “Just a general feeling of not being as safe as my neighborhood. I feel personally targeted and kind of violated.”

Detectives are investigating the incident to identify the suspect, the newspaper said.

Washington, DC is not free from crime. In 2023, the total number of violent crimes in Washington, DC increased by 39%, and robberies increased by 67%. according to to police data.
