‘I Need Explanations’: Kevin O’Leary Says Kamala Harris ‘Has To’ Break Down Her Actual Economic Policies To Press

“Shark Tank” co-star Kevin O'Leary on Monday called on Vice President Kamala Harris to stop shying away from the press, saying it's preventing her and the public from understanding her economic policy agenda.

Harris has not given any interviews or press conferences since launching her presidential campaign in July, but she has spoken out on the campaign trail. Website As of Monday, Harris had yet to reveal the details of her policy. O'Leary told Outnumbered that Harris's shunning of the press has left him in the dark about her investment strategy, and that he needs the “clarification” of her policies that Harris's engagement with the press provides in order to make smart decisions about what to do with his money. “Let's be bipartisan for a second and agree on one thing: There is no scenario in which the president of the United States cannot host a press conference. In every scenario, he has hosted press conferences in good times and bad. She has to start a press conference. That's it. There is no choice. There is no scenario in which everybody is comfortable, especially swing voters in battleground states,” O'Leary said.

“Why doesn't she speak to the press? I'm asking that as a policymaker. I need an explanation for these policies because I have to invest in them,” he added. “I have questions and I'm not getting answers. I'm not being naive. I want her to come out and speak to the press, wherever she is.”

Harris recently Published The vice president has indicated his intention to put a federal ban on so-called “price gouging” on food products, but the plan has received strong backlash due to accusations that it amounts to price manipulation. After the policy announcement, CNN host Julia Chatterley said the vice president's economic policy speech was appealing to voters but lacked details.

“I think this was a great example of sticking to the script, being voter-friendly, being very light on the details and not talking about what it would cost. If Donald Trump is like Harry Potter in terms of being a policy wizard, this is like Hermione Granger,” Chatterley said. “And it's not just that she won't pay for it. She also said that she's going to reduce the deficit despite all these perks.”

Mark Penn, a former adviser to President Bill Clinton, argued Monday that Harris's disdain for the media is an uninformed voter and undemocratic move.

“In my opinion, there should be three presidential debates instead of one. There should be a position paper on the website instead of a donation page,” Penn said. “And he should go before the press every two or three days. Because if voters aren't informed, it's not a democracy with a real vote.”
