Iconic Cult Film Director Paul Morrissey Dead At 86

Paul Morrissey, the talented cult film director and Andy Warhol collaborator, died on October 28th at the age of 86.

His talent was most recognized through films such as Andy Warhol’s The Body of Frankenstein, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Mixed Blood, and News from Nowhere. According to The Hollywood Reporter, their relationship was sometimes strained due to Morrissey’s contribution to Warhol’s cult status. Warhol often seemed to be more appreciated than Morrissey, but Morrissey disputed this in an interview. Their work became recognized as “Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein” or “Andy Warhol’s Dracula” and was later credited as “Paul Morrissey’s Film.”

According to the newspaper, Morrissey was also the director of the Velvet Underground and co-founder of Interview magazine.
