Rep. Mike Carey, R-Ohio, spoke about his efforts to fill Vice President-elect J.D. Vance’s Senate seat in an interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Mr. Vance is scheduled to resign from the Senate before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20, and Republican Ohio Governor Mike DeWine will continue to serve alongside Sen.-elect Bernie Moreno until a special election in 2026. Republicans must be appointed.
