Drones are likely to be dispatched to crime scenes in Santa Monica, Calif., before actual cops, according to a report released Wednesday.

NBC News article It details how drones are more likely than cops to arrive at a crime scene in a tiny California enclave. The cops will definitely show up eventually, but imagine being attacked and called 911, with a flying robot showing up instead of an actual human to help.

If you don’t rant about how terrifyingly dystopian this idea is, you may be mentally ill.

As a former Santa Monica resident (and victim of multiple crimes in Santa Monica), I can’t say that this news surprised me. Many of my neighbors were good, honest, hardworking people, but many of them were drug addicts and psychopaths who stabbed tourists and overdosed in broad daylight. I was also a far-left libertarian who thought it was very sad that the I am so sad that there is nothing I can do to fix the problem. Instead, they rioted, hated cops, and elected themselves and they for what is now officially another chapter in their rapid descent from California paradise to open-air prison camps. There is no one to blame but the officials.

That’s why the people of Santa Monica enjoy killing, nasty streets, collapsing local economies, and being swarmed by drones with powerful cameras that can literally infiltrate the most private spaces. In one use, these drones were the sole witnesses to an alleged violent robbery. According to reports, the only reason one of the suspects was convicted was because of the images taken by the device (although given how pathetic California’s criminal justice system is). They would have already been out of prison). This may sound like a good thing, but all I see is humans being replaced by robots. This is another slippery slope that we really have to descend… before it’s too late.
