Venezuelan Immigrant Pleads Guilty to Fatal Car Accident
An undocumented immigrant from Venezuela, Endurina Bracho, has pleaded guilty to a fatal car accident that resulted in the death of an 11-year-old boy and injuries to his family. The incident occurred in December 2023, and Bracho entered her plea in St. Louis County Circuit Court.
Bracho’s plea was described as a “blind plea,” meaning she agreed to plead guilty without prior discussions about her potential sentence with the prosecution.
On the day of the incident, Bracho was traveling west on Dun Road in a Dodge van with her two children. Reports indicate she veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a Jeep carrying Travis Wolf and his family. Witnesses and police noted that she was driving 35 miles per hour above the speed limit.
The crash resulted in serious injuries; Travis Wolf was placed on life support and tragically passed away on March 6, 2024, just one day shy of his 12th birthday. His parents also sustained fractures in the accident, and Bracho’s children were reported injured, as well.
Bracho is currently in the U.S. illegally and was being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the time of her plea, as reported previously. This situation has sparked significant discussion, especially among local politicians.
In response to the incident, Republican Missouri Senator Josh Hawley proposed “Travis’ Law” in early 2025 as a way to commemorate Wolf and advocate for stronger protections against crimes involving illegal immigrants. He expressed his frustration over the immigration policies under the current administration, emphasizing the need to safeguard American lives from preventable tragedies.
Bracho’s sentencing is set for September 12, with prosecutors recommending a 10-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter and seven years for each assault charge related to the accident.
Additional charges include two misdemeanors concerning child welfare and transportation violations.
