Illegal immigrants among five arrested in Albertville undercover child exploitation operation



The Albertville Police Department, working with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Homeland Security, arrested five men in a child exploitation sting and set bail at $1 million each.

Roger Brian Ayers, 54, of Guntersville, and Juan Eduardo Paredes Rios, 26, of Attalla, were both charged with two counts of traveling to meet a child for the purpose of unlawful sexual activity; He is charged with two counts of electronic solicitation of a child.

Gerardo Orellana, 44, who was charged with traveling to meet a child on charges of unlawful sexual conduct and electronic solicitation of a child, is disqualified and not in the country legally. Albertville police said Mario Antonio Rocha Plasencia, 40, who was charged with the same crime, is also in the process of applying and is therefore in the country illegally.

The other person arrested is Ricardo Isaias Carrillo Becerra, 36, of Fort Payne, who is currently unknown.

Albertville police described the operation as “the result of months of preparation and planning,” adding, “Marshall County authorities continue to pursue those who prey on children.”

Covenant Rescue Group, an Alabama-based organization that fights human trafficking, was also involved in the sting.

“Today we want to remind everyone… preying on children is wrong. We exist to bring justice to those people,” the group wrote on Facebook. .
