The transfer portal in college sports is completely out of control (for better or worse, depending on how you look at it), but that said, coaches aren't keen to talk about it. In a now-viral video that was featured on Miami (Ohio)'s team site, Martin disputed claims that the Redhawks “lost” Nicholson before next season.
“We didn't lose him. He's at Alabama,” Martin said. “We know exactly where he is. Media, that's all a myth. No, Alabama stole our kicker. They illegally recruited our kicker and stole him from us. That's a fact. That's college football. We live in a dream world of, 'Hey, let's not talk about it.' We know what's going on. Alabama stole our kicker.”
