‘I’m A Bit Worried’: Black Female Swing-State Voters Tell MSNBC It’s Time For Biden To ‘Drop Out’

Two Black women from Pennsylvania told MSNBC that President Joe Biden should drop out of the presidential race following his performance in Thursday's debate.

Biden spoke huskily and trailed off during the debate with former President Donald Trump, sending Americans into panic over his age and whether his term as president would expire. “Morning Joe” voters said the debate made them worry that Biden would be the Democratic nominee to challenge Trump. “I wanted both candidates to drop out of the race, both of them. I didn't like either of them. I didn't think they represented America well. I traveled abroad a while ago and I get it,” said a voter named Izetta. “People look at America and they're like, what are you guys doing? What are you all smoking? It's an embarrassment. So I wanted both candidates to drop out of the race.”

“I agree. I totally agree. I want them both to step down. I'm a little concerned about Biden's ability to run the country,” said a voter named Clark. “I don't know if he'll be able to run the country if he stays in the race for the next four years. And I think there are other options in the party that could do the same kind of thing he wants to do, but I just don't think it should be him.”

Clarke also said she was concerned about Trump's mental health, calling him “crazy” and saying she “doesn't trust him.”

“For me, the visceral emotional reaction after 90 minutes was, 'Wow, we need to find a different path forward,'” the anonymous voter said. “Changing course seems unrealistic given the practicalities of who the next candidate will be and getting that person on the ballot, raising funds and having access to those funds. I think at this point it would be better to be strategic and rally around our candidate who has the best chance of getting elected through the process and beating the other candidates.”

Harry Enten, a senior data reporter at CNN, said Tuesday after the network's presidential debate that Biden's approval rating against Trump was terrible in the polls and that other Democratic candidates might do better than the president.

“These numbers are terrible for Joe Biden. That's the only way to put it,” he said.

“Looking at the data right now, I don't think Democrats could do any worse than they are right now if Joe Biden is the top candidate,” Enten added.

Areva Martin, Attorney, California Representative A Democratic ally of President Biden said Monday that Democrats should “stay” on Biden's path and warned that giving Vice President Kamala Harris to a “white guy” would alienate the party's black female supporters.

“I can assure you that if they choose a white man over Kamala Harris or a Black woman, we will walk away and destroy the party,” she said.
