“I’m Feeling Emotional”: Democrat Plays Tiny Violin for Undocumented Immigrants at Alligator Alcatraz

Closure of Immigrant Detention Facility Spark Controversy

At a recent Democratic National Committee meeting, representatives described a prominent immigration detention facility as “concentration camps.”

Judge Kathleen Williams from the Southern District of Florida has mandated the closure of the facility nicknamed “Crocodile Alcatraz,” which was established during the Obama administration to house undocumented immigrants. Florida representative Millie Herrera referenced this ruling while discussing potential amendments to a resolution.

“I refuse to refer to it as Alligator Alcatraz. It’s frankly insulting and inhumane what’s happening to immigrants across this country,” Herrera expressed after reviewing the amendments. She highlighted issues, stating that legal representatives often cannot visit detainees, including those who are legal residents or citizens denied due process. “Men are kept in cages with no privacy, and they have to drink from inadequate water sources.”

Herrera emphasized the need to address such injustices. “Many of us have escaped persecution in other countries, believing we would find safety under the Constitution here. We want to contribute to society and ensure a better future for our children. I genuinely appreciate everyone’s support in this matter,” she said earnestly.

In further developments, environmental organizations called on officials to halt the construction of facilities supported by the Trump administration, particularly following statements from Florida Republican Attorney General James Usmieire.

Illegal immigration remains a significant focus for the Trump administration, with President Trump implementing multiple executive orders aimed at tackling the issue and enhancing border security. Recently, he classified specific Mexican drug cartels and gangs from Venezuela and El Salvador as foreign terrorist organizations.
