‘I’m Not Gonna Bubble Wrap It’: Sen. Kennedy Says Secret Service Was ‘Outsmarted’ By ‘A 20-Year-Old Punk’

Senator John Kennedy, Republican of Louisiana, slammed the US Secret Service, saying on Fox News that they were “outwitted” by a “20-year-old hooligan” in the assassination attempt on President Trump.

Senator Kennedy appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” on Wednesday night to discuss the newly released video that showed a man walking across a rooftop about three minutes before Thomas Matthew Crook opened fire on the former president and the crowd. Guest host Judge Jeanine Pirro began by asking the senator why the Secret Service allowed Trump “on stage.” (RELATED: New video shows person walking across rooftop about 3 minutes before shooting at Trump rally)

“Let me start with the positive, Judge. When the president was shot and fell, about a dozen men and women surged onto the stage, some around the perimeter and some on top of him. They were ready to take a bullet for their country,” Johnson said.

“The perpetrator was already dead, but they didn't know it. I'm so proud of those men and women, and the Secret Service and other law enforcement officers,” Johnson continued. “That said, the fact remains that a 20-year-old delinquent outwitted the Secret Service.”

Kennedy continued his attacks on the Secret Service, vowing to hunt down Acting Director of the Secret Service Ronald Rowe Jr. “like he's stolen a dog” until he answers questions about security lapses at Trump's Pennsylvania rally.

“Again, I'm not going to sweep this under the rug. A 20-year-old delinquent outwitted the Secret Service and the American people have a right to know why. We had a hearing yesterday and we learned some new things but it's still an ongoing investigation,” Johnson said.

“The American people deserve answers. Number three, we have a new director of the Secret Service. He tried to be forthright yesterday. He didn't answer all the questions because he can't, but I can promise you this,” Johnson continued. “Until he answers the questions about what happened for the American people, I'm going to hound him like he stole a dog. We're not going to let this go.”

The latest video was filmed by James Copenhaver, one of the shooting victims, and adds to the security information that was infiltrated during the attack on Trump on July 21. Members of the Secret Service and FBI had told lawmakers on July 17 that local police had spotted Crooks about 50 minutes before Trump was set to take the stage, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The whistleblower also told Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley that police had personnel stationed on the “sloped” rooftop where Crooks was using the vehicle, but had left it unattended due to “hot weather,” information Hawley disclosed in a letter on X (formerly Twitter).

Crooks has been spotted across multiple accounts and was also seen flying a drone near the rally site in the hours before the event. according to To WTAE.

The numerous security lapses led former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to submit her resignation from the Secret Service on July 23 after a tense hearing with the House Oversight Committee.
