Former Democratic Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill has her own theory about why Vice President Kamala Harris lost Tuesday’s presidential election, and she couldn’t help but sob on MSNBC when speaking about it on Wednesday. I no longer get it.
Monaka exterior When asked on “Deadline: The White House” how he felt about the election results, McCaskill couldn’t help but break down in tears. She also commented on Harris’ difficult path as a politician.
“I’m so proud of her. I don’t think people realize how difficult it was to get to where she was. As a woman, it’s not easy to be elected to Congress. . . . People don’t trust women to make life-and-death and criminal decisions and, frankly, in some ways, to be supervisors more than police,” McCaskill said. “She fought her way through the major thickets of California politics to become attorney general. It’s really hard. I mean, this is really hard.”
As San Francisco’s district attorney and California’s attorney general, Harris worked with police unions. Harris, who once called herself California’s “top cop,” faced criticism from some progressives over her prosecutorial record in the state.
She cited Harris’ resilience in bouncing back from a disappointing 2024 presidential campaign, in which McCaskill felt Harris had lost any real edge due to overreliance on consultants. .
“Frankly, it was a very disappointing presidential election for her to be vice president. I think she lost her footing and listened too much to the consultants,” McCaskill said. added. (Related: Frank Luntz reveals he was ‘shocked’ by President Trump’s exit poll numbers)
McCaskill praised Harris’ political acumen, especially her ability to navigate her role.
“That wasn’t very representative of who she was. And then she became vice president and was completely loyal to Joe Biden and was able to navigate the situation while respecting the fact that Biden chose her.” “We’re walking into some of the most difficult situations in the world that we have to navigate,” MacAskill continued. “I mean, that kind of political skill is just an inspiration to people who don’t understand what she had to go through to get to this moment. That’s why I call her I’m very proud.”
Despite Harris’ political experience, Democratic strategist James Carville attributed Harris’ election defeat to Trump to several key factors. He cited President Joe Biden’s delay in pulling out in July, Harris’ inability to differentiate, and a perceived lack of organization as reasons for the defeat.
