‘I’m Supposed To Take The FBI’s Word?’: Comer Fires Back At Reporter Asking Why FBI Is Being Held In Contempt

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer hit back at reporters on Monday when asked why Congress wouldn’t simply take the FBI’s word for its involvement in the ongoing investigation into President Joe Biden. .

Mr. Comer announced on Monday that he would begin the process of indicting FBI Director Christopher Wray for contempt of Congress. Mr. Comer claimed that the FBI had filed an FD-1023 form that allegedly showed Vice President Biden’s involvement in a criminal bribery scheme. Mr. Comer last week accused Mr. Wray of contempt and threatened to set a May 30 deadline for the FBI to turn over the documents. The FBI has repeatedly refused to hand over the documents, citing them as jeopardizing investigations and sources.

The FBI eventually showed the documents in question to Mr. Kummer, who claimed on Monday that he had not yet fully complied with the subpoena for the FBI to turn over the documents to the commission.

“At the conference, the FBI once again refused to hand over unclassified records to the House Oversight Committee,” Comer said. “And we plan to start the Congressional Insult Hearings this Thursday.”

The reporter then asked why he needed to have the documents if Mr. Kammer had already seen them.

“Why do you need that document?” asked the reporter. “The FBI says they are cooperating in good faith, so why proceed with disdain?”

“Well, let’s see what I’ve read in a lot of the media reports, and you know, Ian Sam’s statement out of the White House, there’s no merit to this, this is crazy. This is a conspiracy.” In theory, should you take my word for it, or the FBI’s? Should I take the word that the FBI is investigating this? ’ Comer shot back. “Or they will write that the source is unverified. Remember that the main reason they don’t want to publish this is because they are concerned about the source.” (Related: Exclusive: MTG Says It’s ‘Guaranteed’ To Hold Rey For Disrespect For Congress, Says Director Knows Better Than You Think)

The documents included interviews with witnesses alleging that Biden received a $5 million bribe.

The House Oversight Committee is investigating the Biden family for alleged influence, and in April, Mr. Comer alleged that at least nine members of the Biden family were involved in international business dealings while the Bidens were vice presidents. .

Then in May, Mr. Comer said the Biden family had received more than $10 million through a limited liability commission set up during the Biden vice presidency.
