Incendiary Device Found In Liberal City’s Ballot Box, Police Say

Police in Portland, Oregon, discovered an incendiary device inside a ballot box on Monday.

Officers from the Portland Central Precinct responded to a report of a burning ballot box around 3:30 a.m. According to Go to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) press release. Security personnel had extinguished the fire before police arrived on the scene.

According to a press release, officers discovered an “incendiary device” used to start the fire inside the ballot box. Photos showing the damage caused by the incident were posted. The report added that Portland Fire Investigators were also on the scene to investigate the incident.

Another ballot box was set on fire in Vancouver, Washington, on Monday, KATU 2 reported, according to officials. A fire department cameraman saw smoke billowing from the ballot box as firefighters pried it open, and ballots falling to the ground as responders worked to extinguish the fire.

“Officers arrived and found a suspicious device next to the box. The ballot box was smoking and on fire,” a statement from Vancouver Police said. “The FBI continues to investigate this incident.”

This is not the first time that ballots have been set on fire during an election.

A Phoenix Police Department media advisory claimed the perpetrator was 35-year-old Dieter Klofkorn. The suspect told authorities that he set the fire because he wanted to be arrested, adding that he had nothing to do with the 2024 election or political activities.

“Approximately 20 electoral ballots were damaged, as well as other mail,” Phoenix Fire Department officials said. According to ABC15 Arizona.

The Daily Caller has reached out to Vancouver’s communications director, manager, fire department and police department, but has not yet received a response.
