Infant dies after crash near I-10, Ruthrauff

TUCSON, Ariz. (13News) – The Pima County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that a toddler died in a crash near Interstate 10 and Ruthlauf Avenue in Pima County on Tuesday, February 27th.

PCSD says officers responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m.

Deputies said a 34-year-old man suffered minor injuries and an 11-month-old infant suffered life-threatening injuries.

Both victims were taken to the hospital, where the infant later died.

According to PCSD, an initial investigation revealed that the 34-year-old man was attempting to cross Letrauf Street with two other adults pushing an infant in a stroller when he was struck by a vehicle traveling east on Letrauf Street. It has been revealed that.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 32-year-old Colton Ortiz, who is currently in the Pima County Jail on charges of manslaughter, aggravated assault, and aggravated DUI.
