The Mojave County Board of Supervisors has approved the use of $650,000 in funding under the U.S. Relief Plans Act to build a new facility for Bullhead City’s Community Park in 2021. Now the cost of that project has almost doubled due to inflation.
National inflation peaked at 9.1% in June and eased to 7.7% in November, according to Forbes’ December report. This inflation has been attributed to factors such as supply chain problems, post-pandemic business growth, OPEC supply cuts, and sanctions against Russia, one of the world’s three oil exporters after its invasion of Ukraine in February. I’m here.
The impact of that inflation is currently on the rise, as Mojave County Superintendent Hildy Angius of the City of Bullhead has called for the use of an additional $550,000 in funds to complete construction of the pavilion and stage at the Gary Keith Memorial Park. is felt at the community level.
Under an amendment to the county’s original contract with contractor Community Pride Associates Inc, an additional $550,000 in funding for the project will be disbursed no later than February 28.
County records show that the project was originally proposed as an effort to create a building space that could be safely recreated by Bullhead City residents and visitors.
Bullhead City’s future Gary Keith Park will be identified as a 22-acre lot in the center of the city. According to the City of Bullhead website, the location is considered ideal due to its proximity to the City of Bullhead’s government facilities and Mojave High School. The Mojave County board plans to vote on whether to approve the cost increase at its board meeting in Kingman on Monday.
