Innovate Alabama offers funding to companies in Huntsville and Madison that are promoting innovation.

In Madison County, several small businesses are set to benefit from over $3.3 million in SBIR/STTR supplementary grants from Innovate Alabama, alongside 20 other recipients statewide. These grants are aimed at helping businesses enhance cutting-edge technology, create jobs, and strengthen their presence in Alabama.

The funding, which includes 11 firms located in Huntsville and Madison, aligns with Alabama’s effort to support entrepreneurs through targeted financial assistance and to foster a thriving innovation ecosystem statewide.

The Innovate Alabama Supplementary Grant Program offers non-dilutive funding to companies that have previously secured federal SBIR or STTR grants. This funding helps close the gap between research and commercialization. So far, Innovate Alabama has allocated over $17 million to 82 small businesses since the program began.

Cynthia Crutchfield, CEO of Innovate Alabama, mentioned, “By providing this subsequent capital through the Supplementary Grants Program, we equip our most promising startups with the resources to bring innovation to market. These investments foster job creation, attract more external investment to Alabama, advance research and technology, and solidify the state’s status as a competitive innovation hub.”

This funding is vital for small and medium-sized enterprises to broaden their operations, hire new talent, and keep developing transformative technologies in areas like biotechnology, aerospace, energy, and advanced manufacturing.
