Investigation Underway into Death of Regina Santos Aviles
The Uvalde Police Department and Texas Rangers are looking into the death of Regina Santos Aviles, who passed away following a police call on Saturday night. She was later taken to a hospital, as noted in an update and call sheet obtained recently.
Records indicate that Santos Aviles, aged 35, died on Sunday morning after an incident at her home the night before, according to reports from KSAT 12.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s office stated she was pronounced dead at 6:34 AM on Sunday. However, details regarding the cause of her death have not been released yet. As of Wednesday, investigations by authorities are still ongoing.
UPD Chief Homer Delgado mentioned in a statement that there were no indications of foul play connected to Santos Aviles’ death. He emphasized that the investigation is being conducted thoroughly and that all protocols are being followed in cases of unexplained deaths.
Delgado expressed a commitment to supporting the victim’s family during this challenging time and urged the Uvalde community to come together. He noted that, in times of loss, it’s essential to unite and comfort one another while honoring the memory of those who have passed.
Santos Aviles previously served as the executive director of the Uvalde Regional Chamber of Commerce and left that position in November 2021 to take her role with Representative Tony Gonzales’s office.
A request for further comment from the Texas Rangers regarding Santos Aviles’ death was not returned by the time of publication.
