Video showed Clark running toward the tunnel as he was heading back to the locker room, and Ohio State fans stormed onto the court as the clock struck midnight. Neither Clark nor the fans seemed to be looking at each other during the run, and BLAM! Clark was hit by a fan, who sat on the floor in obvious pain, while Buckeye supporters stood up to celebrate and glanced at Clark.
Both Ohio State officials and players on the team rushed to help Clark. However, she was helped back to the locker room, and she told reporters she was fine after the incident.

After the game, Clark said:
Caitlin Clark said the atmosphere in the shot was great. She was perfectly fine with Ohio State fans flooding the court, but she said she was blindsided by the fans. She said she was fine and her athletic director, Gene Smith, had already come to apologize to her.
