Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized “Gays for Gaza” protesters in a parliamentary speech on Wednesday, likening them to chickens supporting a popular fast-food chain.
Netanyahu spoke in parliament as Israeli forces continued operations following an Oct. 7 Hamas attack that left more than 1,200 people dead. In his speech, he addressed anti-Israel protesters, calling them “Iran's useful idiots” and claiming that many do not understand what they are shouting about. “As far as we know, Iran is funding the anti-Israel protests taking place right now outside this building. They are not many, but they are happening here and there, and they are spreading across the city,” Netanyahu said. “To the protesters, I want to say something: you have officially become Iran's useful fools, because you are being praised, promoted and funded by the tyrants in Tehran who hang gays from cranes and murder women who do not cover their hair.”
“What is truly astonishing is that some of the protesters are holding signs that read: 'Gays to Gaza,'” Netanyahu continued. “They are no different from those who hold signs that read: 'Chicken to KFC.' The protesters are shouting 'From the river to the sea,' but barely have a clue which river or which sea they are referring to. They have failed not only in geography but also in history!”
During Netanyahu's visit, anti-Israel protesters hurled maggots and insects at the hotel he was staying at. Dozens of Democratic lawmakers abstained from the speech, with some calling Netanyahu a “war criminal.”
