Two separate weather systems are expected to pass through Metro Phoenix on Thursday and Friday, bringing about changes in moisture and precipitation.
The National Weather Service had a 50% chance of shower prediction in North Phoenix and a 30% chance of shower prediction in Southern and Central Phoenix.
The Weather Service confirmed the Phoenix forecast. This is expected to be around 68 degrees and there is a chance to shower. The low Thursday evening is projected to be around 49 degrees, with a likely partially cloudy skies and showers.
Thursday night’s forecast could see 60% rain and winds could reach 20 mph.
Friday’s high was projected to be 58 degrees in showers around Phoenix. According to Weather Service, there was 80% rainfall on Friday.
The forecast for cold temperatures on Friday was 43 degrees, with a quarter to half an inch of rainfall.
Flagstaff, Arizona Weather
Flagstaff’s Winter Weather Advisory was introduced on Thursday, and winter storm warnings came into effect on Thursday night and remained in existence until Friday afternoon, confirmed Megan Taylor, a weather technician with the Meteorologist.
Flagstaff Unified School District closed all schools Thursday due to forecasts of bad weather, road conditions and closures.
Snow showers are projected by 11pm on Thursday, with a potential 90% precipitation.
Taylor said the forecast high temperatures on Thursday were 37 degrees, with gusts expected to be between 18 and 25 mph, potentially reaching 41 mph.
The low temperatures are forecast to be around 21 degrees on Thursday, with 4-6 inches of snow expected before 11pm.
It could likely snow on Friday, with 34 degrees high and winds of about 5-10 miles. The chances of rain on Friday were about 80%.
There was a 50% chance of snow falling before 11pm on Friday, but the cold temperature was about 18 degrees and gusts of winds of 5-7 mph.
Taylor confirmed that 8-12 inches of snow buildup is expected between 11pm on Thursday and 11am on Saturday.
