Hamas Documents Link to Gaza Flotilla
Israeli forces have uncovered official Hamas documents that indicate the direct involvement of terrorist groups in a Gaza-bound flotilla, notably featuring Israeli Foreign Ministry climate activist Greta Samberg. The materials were released on Tuesday, highlighting connections between the flotilla’s leaders and the Hamas organization.
According to the documents, there exists a “direct link” between the flotilla leaders and Hamas. The Hamas foreign arm, known as the Palestine Conference (PCPA), appears to play a significant role in these operations.
The Global SUMUD FLOTILLA consists of numerous boats carrying hundreds of passengers, including Samberg. Their goal is to protest Israel’s blockade of Gaza. The Israeli Navy is anticipated to intercept the flotilla soon, likely within days.
Established in 2018, the PCPA is characterized by the Israeli Ministry as Hamas’s representative organization abroad, functioning essentially as an embassy. Its responsibilities include mobilizing actions against Israel, which reportedly consist of violent demonstrations and marches.
Among the documents found is a letter from Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, dated 2021, which urges unity and openly supports the PCPA—an organization designated as terrorist by Israel that same year.
Another document found at a Hamas post in Gaza lists operatives within the PCPA, including Zaher Birawi, who heads the Hamas sector for the UK, and Saif Abu Kashk, a long-time flotilla organizer. Their involvement has led Israel’s Foreign Ministry to claim that the ships in the flotilla are essentially owned by Hamas.
The ministry has also disclosed images of flotilla activists, including Samberg, in its latest update.
As of now, the Global Sumud Flotilla has not responded to inquiries from the Daily Caller News Foundation. Attempts to reach Birawi and Kashk for comment have also been unsuccessful.
This is not Samberg’s first attempt to reach Gaza—her previous effort in June resulted in Israeli Defense Forces intercepting her boat, which led to her detention and subsequent deportation.
