‘It Makes Me Doubt My Party’: Former Clinton Pollster Calls Out Dems For Lacking ‘Backbone’ To Condemn DNC Protests

During an appearance on Fox News on Monday, former Clinton pollster Doug Shawn said the anti-Israel protests in Chicago “could have a decisive effect” on the 2024 election.

Local Muslim leaders claim that as many as 100,000 protesters are expected to gather in Chicago to protest the Biden administration's actions regarding Israel's war with Hamas during the Democratic National Convention. According to WGN-TV said the number of anti-Israel protesters is expected to reach “tens of thousands.” CNN reported that the anti-Israel protests are expected to reach “tens of thousands.” Shawn told Fox News host Harris Faulkner that the anti-Israel protests could be like the anti-Vietnam War protests at the 1968 Democratic National Convention, which he said helped then-Vice President Hubert Humphrey lose to Richard Nixon that year. “Harris, I'm astonished by the intensity and the numbers,” Sean told Faulkner about reports about the expected number of protesters. “I also attended the '96 rally in support of my client, Bill Clinton. [win]I also remember the '68 election, which played a big role in the defeat of Hubert Humphrey that year, so this election could be decisive.”

Shawn later criticized the protesters, calling many of them anti-Semites, and said not condemning them would cost Democrats votes. “You can never please these people. They want to get rid of Israel, they want to kill Jews. The majority are anti-Semitic. To the first question, as a practicing political analyst, I would answer unequivocally that we can win without them,” Sean told Faulkner. “Yes, there may be a few potentially at-risk voters in Michigan because they are Arab voters, but across the country, people want Democrats to stand up to the protests for law and order and the state of Israel. And we want the hostages back. We want a peace treaty that works for the only stable democratic ally in the Middle East. I sincerely hope that my party has a core and a spine for both practical and political reasons.”

Sean also pointed out that former President Donald Trump had made statements in support of Israel and against Iran and Hamas, and called on Vice President Kamala Harris to demonstrate her support for Israel “with her words and actions.” (Related article: 'Iran's useful idiot': PM Bibi Netanyahu gives harsh reality test to 'Gays for Gaza' protesters)

“Do you think she would?” Faulkner asked Sean about Harris' condemnation of the protesters.

“No, I don't think so,” Sean said. “It worries me and it makes me question my own party in the same way I did in 2016.”
