‘It’s Authenticity’: Victor Davis Hanson Breaks Down Why Trump’s McDonald’s Stop Resonated With Working Class

Political commentator Victor Davis Hanson explained on Fox News Monday why former President Donald Trump’s closing of McDonald’s on Sunday resonated with the working class.

Monaka exterior On “The Ingraham Angle,” Hanson detailed how Trump’s visit to McDonald’s struck a chord with working-class Americans, pointing to Trump’s honest personality and consistent message. Hanson added that Trump’s consistency on key issues such as securing the border, promoting fossil fuels and fighting crime solidifies his appeal among middle-class voters.

“Well, it’s real. Those are his issues, his agenda, and they’re consistent. He calls them border security, predictability, overseas deterrence, fighting crime, fossil fuels. We didn’t change it to the same thing, like promoting it. It’s consistent, and we all know that’s consistent,” Hanson told Laura Ingraham. “The target is the middle class, and that’s where Trump is.”

Hanson contrasted Trump’s approach with that seen in other politicians, particularly Vice President Kamala Harris.

“He wears the same type of clothing whether he’s downtown, on the campaign trail or at Trump Tower,” Hanson added. “He has the same Bronx accent. He doesn’t have a Jamaican accent, a black accent, a Hispanic accent, etc., like Kamala Harris does, depending on the audience he’s dealing with. He’s just trying to get elected. , he did not change his attitude or modify his position in the opposite way.

Hanson also drew a clear line between Trump’s perceived credibility and Harris’ political change.

“And that’s in contrast to her. The reason we know he’s real and she’s not real is because in the last 90 days, she’s refuted Laura’s entire life agenda and is eerily similar to Trump.” Because we have accepted what we have,” Hanson continued.

By contrast, Hanson criticized Harris for lacking credibility in similar situations, arguing that her background in government and academia was vastly different from Trump’s hands-on experience in architecture and real estate.

“She’s been part of government and part of the elite all her life,” Hanson added. “She’s the kid of two with a Ph.D. and she just went straight into politics and never got out of it. He’s a builder, so he didn’t know what a cement worker was doing. You have to know what electricians do, you know what plumbers do. And he likes people because they make their own stuff.” (Related: CNN’s Harry Enten says even if Harris leads in early voting, Trump will likely “close the gap” on Election Day)

President Trump stood behind the counter at a McDonald’s in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, serving fries and taking orders at the drive-thru. Later that day, Trump attended a game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets, mixing fast food and football while interacting with fans.
