‘It’s Insulting’: Karoline Leavitt Gets Into Testy Exchange With AP Reporter Lecturing Her On Tariffs

White House press chief Karoline Leavitt got caught up in a heated debate with Associated Press White House reporter Josh Bauk on Tuesday when he confronted her with President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

Trump initially announced 25% tariffs in Canada and Mexico, along with 10% tariffs in Canada and Mexico over the state’s involvement in allowing Canadian immigration and drugs to flood the United States, but he has since doubled the tariffs on steel and aluminum in Canada. Bork argued that Trump is “depositing taxes” through tariffs in Canada, Mexico and China, rather than implementing the tax cuts he campaigned for.

“If only we could come back in just a moment when President Trump gave his last speech [Business Roundtable]his big push was tax cuts. He proposes tax payments in the form of tariffs, so he’ll be there today,” Bork said. “I’m curious to see why he prioritizes that over tax cuts.”

“He’s not actually carrying out tax payments. Tariffs are foreign tax hikes that have once again ripped us apart. Tariffs are tax cuts for Americans, and the president, as you know, is a solid advocate for tax cuts,” Leavitt said. “He has hints, no tax on overtime, no tax on social security benefits. He is committed to all three of those and we hope Congress will pass them later this year.” (Related: Exclusive: Peter Navarro reveals the real plan behind Trump’s new tariffs)

As Boak tried to explain how tariffs work, the reporter’s secretary promised that revenue would return to the US and wages would increase due to “fair and balanced trade.”

“I’m sorry, but have you ever paid the duties because I have it?” Bork continued. “They are not charged by foreign companies and are charged to the importer.”

“And ultimately, when there’s a fair and balanced trade that we’ve never seen in decades, as I first said, revenues stay here, wages rise, and our country becomes wealthy again,” Levitt fired. “And I think it’s a shame that you are trying to test my knowledge of economics and the decisions this president has made. I regret now asking the Associated Press.”

The White House refused to call the Gulf of Mexico the US Gulf and banned the AP from its oval offices. The AP, a judge, sued Raybitt, Head of Susie Wills and Deputy Chiefs of Staff Taylor Budwich. I refused Restore outlet access immediately.

Trump announced plans to double tariffs in Canada on Tuesday. This is expected to take effect Wednesday. As a 25% tariff on Ontario’s electricity enters the United States, a new 50% tariff will be imposed on all steel and aluminum entering the United States from Canada.

The president said the administration would impose tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China on February 4th and impose mutual tariff clauses. Mexico and Canada quickly fell into Trump by imposing stricter enforcement over the US Mexican border and the fentanyl epidemic, causing a month’s postponement of tariffs.

Trump announcement The Truth Social Post on February 27 planned to double China’s tariffs to 20% and move ahead with Mexico and Canada’s tariffs at “very high and unacceptable levels.” North America, until April 2nd.
