JACKIE DOYER: We Must Fight To Ensure That Only Citizens Vote In American Elections

Arizona is A big win In the fight against non-citizen voting, the left has come out in opposition. Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that for the time being, Arizona can require proof of citizenship when registering to vote. This may seem like common sense, but the left is determined to allow non-citizens and illegal aliens to vote in elections.

Arizona has been struggling to block foreigners from voting for a decade now. After a case went to the U.S. Supreme Court in 2013, the state was allowed to require proof of citizenship only from voters who registered using the state's voter registration form. In 2018, leftists sued again, and the Arizona Secretary of State waived even that protection in a controversial bill. agreement Arizona does not require proof of citizenship when using state forms. House Bill 2492 A bill was passed to end the practice in 2022 and bar anyone who doesn't have proof of citizenship from voting for president or voting by mail. Leftists quickly sued.

A federal district court blocked all of these provisions. 9th Circuit “In affirming the district court's decision, the court went so far as to say that the 2018 agreement prohibits the Arizona Legislature from requiring proof of citizenship from voters who use the state's registration form. Legislation is and should remain the sole and explicit prerogative of Congress. Allowing executive officials to unilaterally change election law is a dangerous precedent, especially when it is the result of partisan, left-wing legal battles.”

The parties filed an emergency stay of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals' ruling and filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court, which reinstated Arizona's citizenship requirement, leaving Arizona's law banning voting in presidential elections and by mail without proof of citizenship in the state in question.

The Arizona legal battle is just the latest in a long line of attempts by the left to gut protections for foreign voters. In fact, Arizona is not a presidential battleground state that is indifferent to foreign voters. Testimony proves this. May Before Wisconsin Member of Parliament The investigation revealed that there is currently no mechanism to verify whether foreigners are registered to vote or have actually voted. If the left has its way, this situation is unlikely to improve. In fact, Democrats have scoffed at the very idea that verification is necessary, since the likelihood of foreigners voting is “highly unlikely.”

But we know that foreign votes happen, and the Democratic Party knows it. HR1 1The federal election takeover bill, which passed the House in 2021 and which Democrats have pledged to reintroduce in 2025, would provide amnesty for illegal foreign registration and illegal voting. If that won't happen, why are Democrats in Congress trying to make it impossible to prosecute foreigners who vote illegally? Perhaps the answer is that the left wants as few of these crimes to be prosecuted as possible. The lack of prosecutions is their story They claim no election fraud occurred, and by the time investigations and prosecutions take place, the damage is already done: the fraudulent votes are being counted.

When Republican-led federal legislation, the SAVE Act (which would ban foreign nationals from voting in federal elections), passed the House of Representatives, the White House publicly Veto President Joe Biden has argued that current protections are sufficient and that liberal attempts to weaken them are irrelevant, and that foreign voting is “extremely rare.” But thousands of foreigners were found to be illegally on voter rolls in Virginia and in Ohio. Referenced 138 investigations into suspected illegal voting by foreigners the study It is estimated that a significant number of illegal immigrants are currently registered to vote.

Furthermore, there are moves to thoroughly pursue voting by foreigners in elections. Washington DC, New York City passed a bill explicitly allowing foreigners to vote in local elections, allowing foreigners from enemy nations to interfere in local politics in the nation's capital. When Texas tried to include a citizenship requirement for voting in its constitution, 54 House Democrats The bill died. A simple “yes” vote robbed the bill of the 12 votes it needed to go to the voters for their decision.

Our victory in Arizona was a huge step in the right direction. Citizenship demonstrates loyalty and gives us a personal stake in our nation's future. The fight on the left to make it easier for non-citizens to vote will continue. We must stay engaged, persevere, and fight to ensure that only citizens can vote in American elections.
