“Well, I think it was always the time for Democrats to campaign hard in rural areas. I don’t know that the party ran away from it,” Kerrville said. “Some of that urbanist members and commentators lived in the stupidity of the world we could exist, and we were able to win the election simply by focusing on big, strategically less-than-even urban areas.”
A Democratic strategist recommended the New York Times opinion on Wednesday piece Michelle Cottle has argued that Jason Crow, a Colorado Democrat, has felt that many rural voters “do not respect them.” Crow also believes Democrats need to work on grasping American lifestyles in order to win the election.
“I think Jason Crow is kind of a prototype of what modern Democrats should embrace… This should give us the opportunity to literally reintroduce ourselves to rural America if we play this very cleverly,” Kerrville said. “Because of the large strips in rural America, they feel like Democrats don’t see them, don’t talk to them, or prioritize them. And you know, this gives them the opportunity to see another Democrat.”
“Our stupidity has become the most progressive, self-righteous, moral people in the world. And the people you know, living in rural America are exactly the kind of fat, lazy and stupid you know, and that’s clearly not true,” he added. “But that’s how some of the urbanist elements of our party tried to meet. And it should be apologised to the rural areas for being so stupid.”
