Logan – Utah State University announced Thursday that Jason Bligh, currently deputy chief of the University of Arizona Police Department, will join USU starting July 1, making it its third police chief in 17 months.
Following Earl Morris’ resignation from USU Police in December 2021 and Blair Verfuss’s retirement from USU after less than a year, the school launched a nationwide search three months ago and is now in Brisbane this week. It ended with the hiring of Mr.
Most of his 26 years in law enforcement have been with the large university police force, but he began his career with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office before moving to the University of Arizona in 2000.
He has held leadership-level positions for over 14 years, with the last nine in senior management positions.
He holds a BA in Criminal Justice and an MBA in Public Management from Northern Arizona University, and also completed the National FBI Academy in 2010.
The USU Police Chief directs all University Police functions at the Logan Campus and the USU East Campus.
