Ohio just scored a big victory before Election Day. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals a favorable judgment was given A recently passed law prohibiting foreign nationals from directly or indirectly funding ballot-issuing campaigns in Ohio. The ruling ensures that for the time being, foreigners will be prohibited from funding efforts to change the state constitution, something they have been allowed to do for far too long.
The verdict came quickly. Connection with foreign countries funding It is currently being used in Ohio to advance a voting measure that will have national implications.
Issue 1 — on the ballot next month — is nothing more than a liberal power grab by dark money in Washington, D.C. group I want Ohioans to elect more Democrats. Their solution is to rig the rules and redraw the legislative map to ensure more liberals are elected. Issue 1 supporters are determined to use all means at their disposal to ensure their side wins, including millions of dollars in foreign funding. If they succeed, the results could decide which party controls Congress in 2026, even before the 2024 elections are over. (Related: Jason Snead: Illegal aliens are registered to vote – now what?)
Here’s how they plan to execute that plan.
No. 1 would dismantle Ohio State voters approved Protects against gerrymandering and imposes unelected and unaccountable commissions on Ohioans. The duties of this committee would allow them It’s about realigning and redrawing the state’s maps to guarantee that a certain number of Democrats and Republicans will be elected no matter what. Every district would have to be drawn to support one of the two major parties, even if that meant carving out entire communities or towns.
This entire system is modeled after Michigan’s failed redistricting commission. When that commission first mapped Michigan, a federal judge decided They violate the U.S. Constitution and the civil rights of minority voters. But the committee did what liberals wanted and handed them control of the Michigan Legislature. to the Democratic Party. Now, partisan activists are spending millions of dollars to impose a similar power grab on voters in the Buckeye State.
That’s bad enough. What’s worse is that it uses cash tied to foreign countries to do so. In fact, some Issue 1 supporters are exploiting loopholes in U.S. election law that allow foreigners to funnel money into state voting efforts. This loophole has flagged by Congress’ Federal Election Commission is expected to handle the matter, but it remains unresolved for now.
That’s where Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wiss comes into the picture. This is the most influential person in American politics that you’ve probably never heard of. Whis is top donor to the Sixteen Thirty Fund, one of the largest left-wing movements in the country. Whis is funnel-shaped At least $243 million has been invested in the group, which is also one of the largest funders of voting efforts in the United States. They have poured more than $100 million into campaigns aimed at rewriting state constitutions, changing voting laws and promoting abortion.
Voting issues should not be a Trojan horse for foreign interference in American elections. That’s why the Ohio General Assembly worked closely with Republican Gov. Mike DeWine earlier this year to pass a ban on direct and indirect foreign funding. Shockingly, the Six Thirty Fund injected money on the very day Mr. DeWine convened the Ohio Legislature to close this foreign funding loophole. 6 million dollars The group then spent all its money before Ohio’s new ban went into effect, branding foreign interference into the process before lawmakers could actually act.
Wyss’ lawyer, leading liberal lawyer Marc Elias, also appeared in court. are discussing That foreigners should be able to influence American elections. Lower courts blocked the law, but the Sixth Circuit disagreed with that finding. recent judgmentsprohibited the Sixteen Thirty Fund from funneling any more foreign-linked cash to Ohio’s ballot issue campaign.
This is an important win for Ohio State. But almost every other state remains exposed to left-wing foreign funding. This is not a mischievous threat. This year alone, the Sixteen Thirty Fund has funneled millions of dollars in foreign-linked cash to ballot issues in Arizona, Florida, Missouri, Montana and other states. State lawmakers should follow Ohio’s lead and ban foreign influence in elections when Congress begins next year. Meanwhile, while the country is focused on November 2024, Liberals have already set their sights on 2026. Democrats have tried, and will continue to try, to use foreign funding to gain power. Ohioans have a chance to stop them by voting “no” on Issue 1.
