Jay Mitchell and Katherine Robertson report closely matched $1.2 million campaign totals in the race for Alabama Attorney General

Alabama’s Attorney General Race Heats Up with Big Donations

The competition to succeed Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, who will leave the position due to term limits in the 2026 Republican primary, is already gaining traction and funding.

Jay Mitchell, who left his role as an assistant judge on the Alabama Supreme Court to pursue the AG position last month, has contributed over $654,304.40 from his prior campaign funds. He reported raising $362,840.00 in June, bringing his total campaign funds to $1,288,362.86.

His campaign celebrated these financial gains, with Mitchell stating, “This early support is humble and energizing.” He added that Alabamians are eager to back former President Trump and ensure safety for Alabama families.

Katherine Robertson, a veteran attorney who worked under AG Marshall and previously served as a key staff member to former U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions, has also entered the race. Her campaign reported raising $1,255,620.00 in its first fundraising cycle since launching in early June.

Notably, she achieved this milestone without any leftover funds from prior campaigns. On Wednesday, she remarked, “It’s encouraging to have gained the confidence of many individuals who care deeply about what we’re doing,” emphasizing her commitment to safety and freedom during her tenure in the AG’s office.

Robertson’s funding sources include both individual and corporate contributions, alongside support from First Principles Action, Inc., with a significant $1 million donation. Currently, her cash balance stands at $1,231,595.12, with her fundraising efforts costing less than $25,000.

Her campaign claims that this strong initial fundraising reflects a solid base of support from various communities, underlining her reputation among law enforcement and conservative legal circles.

Meanwhile, Pamela Casey, a candidate from Blunt County and also vying for the AG position in 2026, reported having a total of $25,966.26 available in her latest filing.
