Republican vice presidential nominee and Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance said Wednesday night that he had been informed by journalists that Vice President Kamala Harris was not happy with internal polling numbers.
Vance, speaking with Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson, said the polls were an attempt to tell Republican voters that Trump's approval rating had dropped significantly and to persuade them to stay home on Election Day. He said journalists had told him that internal polling results showed Harris was not confident about her chances of winning in November.
“I said that Kamala's own internal polling isn't looking very good right now,” Vance said. “And of course, the left says, 'The Republican vice presidential nominee is J.D. Vance. No one from Kamala Harris' campaign has talked to him.' And that's true. And by the way, Kamala Harris' campaign hasn't talked to me, but they have talked to journalists. And journalists want to know what's going on with the Republican candidate. They want to see our internal numbers.”
“And journalists are telling me Kamala Harris doesn't like her numbers. Journalists are telling me our campaign likes their numbers,” Vance continued.

Vance began the interview by saying Harris was not performing well in key battleground states needed to win the election. (RELATED: “Don't you realize?”: JD Vance accuses Dana Bash of “engaging in basic propaganda”)
“You know what happens when you talk to journalists close to the Kamala Harris campaign: give them information, they give you information,” Vance said. “And our numbers and their numbers show very clearly that Harris is not doing well in states she needs to win, but things could very well change and we have to go out and vote.”
Republican candidates Donald Trump and Harris are currently neck and neck in national opinion polls, according to FiveThirtyEight. show As of Thursday, the vice president was leading 48.5% to 45.2%. Trump's approval rating was significantly underestimated in polls in both the 2016 and 2020 elections, suggesting that support for the former president in polls may not be accurately reflected.
A New York Times/Siena College poll released on Sept. 8 found Trump leading Harris, 48% to 47%. The poll was conducted among 1,695 voters nationwide and had a margin of error of 2.8%.
