Hello Mojave County! It’s very hot, isn’t it? I hope you all are doing everything you can to stay cool and hydrated.
We would like to inform all property owners that the August 31st deadline to apply for the Advanced Property Valuation Protection Program (Senior Freeze) is approaching. Contact our office today to make sure you have all the required documents for your application.
The Arizona State Assessor is proud to announce the passage of HB2064 during this year’s legislative session. We have worked very hard with Congress and the Governor to pass this. HB2064 allows the assessor’s office to accept multiple types of physicians signing disability applications. Once this bill is enacted, it will be possible to accept the signatures of the following physicians for certification of disability exemption eligibility: We believe that this expanded medical coverage will greatly assist disabled exemption applicants.
Here is a list of acceptable physician signatures on our disability forms:
US Department of Veterans Affairs
Osteopathic Doctors and Surgeons
Our Rater Address Protection Program (AAPP) has been very successful since it was launched this year. An investigation by the Assessor’s Office found that most fraud begins with a change of address.
AAPP is designed so that only property owners can change their mailing address. Our new program requires property owners to submit a notarized affidavit stating that they are the only authorized agent to change the property’s mailing address. After submitting her notarized affidavit, she can only change her address by submitting her second notarized affidavit with her new address. Programs do not completely “lock” addresses. Certain legal processes necessarily override locks.
Transfers of deeds, death certificates, judgments, or other legal proceedings invalidate locks.
When you enroll in the AAPP program, our office will contact you about upcoming changes and new deeds. While the program was not designed as a secure method of preventing fraud, it should at least provide concerned taxpayers with an additional level of security in maintaining address and ownership records.
To apply for the AAPP program, please visit one of our evaluator offices.
