‘Jeopardy!’ Turns Mary Todd Lincoln Into Drag Queen Mockery

“Dangerous!” By airing April 14th, depicting a distorted version of Mary Todd Lincoln, he downplayed the legacy of one of America’s most iconic women.

Non-binary actor Cole Escola quickly sparked backlash for wearing drugs, laughing at Mary Todd Lincoln, “Jeopardy!” and disregarding Mrs. Lincoln’s position in American history. Escola stars in the hit comedy “Ah, Mary!” on Broadway. The play is centered around the famous First Lady in the weeks leading up to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, and gives a twist to her life by portraying her as an obsessive alcoholic. Viewers were not impressed by the rude portrayal.

Escola’s time at the game show was not short-lived. The actor reads all the answers as Lincoln and has makeup and a wig. He made the first woman’s dishonorable ock laugh out of the star.

“I’m Mary Todd Lincoln, because you’ve never seen her before,” Escola said while wearing the drug.

Escola has overdramataed a long answer with slides to aid the visuals.

“In 1839 I lived with my sister Elizabeth and this Illinois husband and met Abe, Escola said while imitating Lincoln’s voice.

The contestant named Andrew rang out with the question, “What is Springfield?” Increased points on the scoreboard.

Critics quickly aired their complaints about the dishonorable portrayal.

@bluecrystaltear said, “This is not a way for you to celebrate a tragic anniversary. Trying to make it interesting is just going to be nagging in the worst way.

Others responded in the comments, “Mrs. Lincoln is lying in her grave,” and “The creepiest shit I’ve ever seen.” User @MMJHCB summed up the feelings in three short words. “This is a shame.”
