Jim Carrey’s sister Rita passed away on Thursday, according to a heartbreaking message her husband shared on social media Friday morning.

Her husband Alex said: “Rita passed away peacefully and peacefully on November 14, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. We are heartbroken and deeply saddened.” I wrote On facebook. “Rita and I (Alex) have been together for 16 years and just got married last July in an outdoor wedding that she had always wanted.”

“We traveled all over the world and met many people I consider friends. Rita was my best friend, my lover, and my beautiful wife,” he continued.

He described Rita as having a big heart and a compassionate personality.

“Rita has always had a loving soul and wanted to help everyone, even strangers. As everyone knows, Christmas is Rita’s favorite holiday. It was a holiday. In fact, Christmas was every day for her and she started fundraising to support local charities,” Alex said.

Alex also invited others to pay their final respects.

“Family and friends are invited to attend a candlelight vigil in Rita’s memory on December 7, 2024 at Heathcote Terrace in St. Catharines.”

“Following the wake, everyone is encouraged to attend a Christmas on the Terrace public event in support of Gillian’s cause. Donations in Rita’s memory can be made in person at Gillian’s location or by dropping them off at the event venue. Non-perishable food, children’s clothing, toiletries, unwrapped gifts for children, etc. are encouraged,” he wrote.

“It’s been an amazing and crazy journey with Rita,” he wrote. “She filled everyone’s hearts with joy with every step she took. I will never forget this beautiful and amazingly talented woman.
