Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) was in Elmore County on Saturday to speak at a gathering of Republican lawmakers sponsored by Alabama cotton farmers.

Jordan was there to support incumbent Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) and thanked cotton farmers and River Area Republicans for supporting Palmer's re-election.

“First of all, thank you for being willing to join us to help keep good men in the United States Congress,” Jordan said in front of a crowd of more than 100 people. It is very important that good, sensible people participate in the political process. ”

Mr. Jordan is the founding chairman of the House Freedom Caucus and currently serves as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

“I want to tell everyone that there are politicians like Gary Palmer who are glad they chose to serve in public service,” Jordan said. “He's a good guy who fights well.”

Jordan said Joe Biden's weakness and the perception of weakness around the world is prompting his enemies to attack. Mr. Jordan emphasized the importance of former President Donald J. Trump being re-elected to the White House.

“When America leads, that means when we are strong. The world is better when we lead. That's why everyone…everyone who cares about America… “To save America, we need to work on helping Gary Palmer return to Congress and helping Donald Trump return to the White House,” Jordan told the crowd.

Jordan said the battle in Washington is “not a battle between Republicans and Democrats. It's not a battle between Republicans and Democrats.” But it's a battle between normalcy and insanity. ” Jordan said House Republicans believe in the border, but current Democrats do not. Republicans believe men should not participate in women's sports, while Democrats believe otherwise.

Palmer said he was part of a group of advisers advising President Trump on energy policy and the importance of critical minerals. Palmer also criticized Biden's decision to halt construction of new liquefied natural gas facilities.

Palmer said he and Jordan participated in House Speaker Mike Johnson's recent border tour, but that House Democrats will not participate.

Jordan said that if Biden wins a second term, he will import more than 12 million people into the country at the current pace of resettling immigrants across the country, “which is about the population of the state of Ohio. equivalent to,” he said.

Elmore and Autauga counties join the 6th Congressional District for the first time. Court-ordered redistricting late last summer moved the 2nd Congressional District to the CD6 district.

Palmer joked that he was still trying to introduce himself to the new south-end residents of his district. He assured them that he already had experience working hard for Alabama farmers.

Mr. Palmer supported Mr. Jordan in October's election for speaker of the House of Representatives. Jordan ultimately failed in that effort because some moderate Republicans did not support him.

Palmer, who is serving his fifth term in the House of Representatives representing Alabama's 6th Congressional District, faced a rare tough battle in the Republican primary from car salesman Gerrick Wilkins and insurance salesman Ken McPheeters. facing a difficult problem.

Earlier in the day, Jordan attended an event in South Alabama to endorse U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) in Alabama's 1st Congressional District.
