Jimmie Allen Held Responsible in Sexual Assault Lawsuit

Jimmy Allen Found Liable in Civil Suit

On Monday, country singer Jimmy Allen was deemed liable for sexual assault and a number of other charges after he didn’t adhere to court orders in a civil lawsuit.

Allen has denied allegations of assaulting a woman in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2022 and allegedly recording the incident. Due to missing several court deadlines, he lost his chance to defend himself. Tennessee US District Judge Areta Trugger issued a default ruling against him for charges that include battery, assault, invasion of privacy, and intentional emotional distress.

The trial was set for the summer of 2025. However, because of Allen’s repeated noncompliance, an early decision was made. Throughout the legal proceedings, he changed lawyers multiple times, failed to produce evidence, and skipped depositions. He was ordered in March to pay nearly $6,000 for canceling a mediation session at the last minute, but by June, it seemed that the fees had not been secured.

“There’s really no other sanction this court hasn’t attempted. Extensions, discovery orders, and lawyer replacements—nothing has worked,” noted plaintiffs’ attorney Elizabeth Fegan in correspondence with the court. “I don’t see how any similar order will lead to compliance from the defendant.”

Allen’s legal team did not respond to requests related to the default ruling and asked the judge to dismiss the trial in favor of the motion.

Judge Truger pointed out that Allen couldn’t meet the court’s specific order, which included deadlines for case management. As a result, the plaintiff’s sanctions and the motion against Allen and his tour company were upheld.

The tour organization, which employs Allen’s bodyguard Charles Heard, was also cited after Heard was accused of assisting the singer in pursuing the victim. Judge Truger informed the plaintiff’s attorney that they could seek financial compensation from both Allen and the tour company.

This lawsuit is among two civil sexual assault cases against Allen filed in 2023. His career was thriving, boasting several No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Country Airplay charts, until the allegations came to light, impacting his label, BBR Music Group, as well as his management team and booking agents.

Despite the controversies, Allen released his first new single in two years on August 6th, followed by another on August 12th. He also announced a 14-city tour that will commence in Dallas on September 5th and continue through November 29th.
