PHOENIX — Greenlee County unemployment claims rose for the fourth month in a row.
According to data released Thursday by the Arizona Department of Commerce.
Greenlee County’s unemployment rate rose eight-tenths of a percentage point to 3.3% in June. But despite this increase, Greenlee County still has the lowest unemployment rate in Arizona, 6 tenths of a percentage point better than Maricopa County’s 3.9%.
Graham County’s unemployment rate also increased in June, rising nine-tenths of a percentage point to 4.6%, the fifth-lowest unemployment rate in the state.
Jobless claims in nearby Cochise County jumped 8-tenths of a percentage point in June to 5.1%.
The statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose one-tenth of a percentage point in June to 3.5%, down three-tenths of a percentage point from the same period last year. The national tax rate increased by 4 points in his 10th he made to 3.8 percent.
Six economic sectors reported job gains in June. Trade, transportation and utilities (1,100 more jobs). Professional and Business Services (600 more jobs added). Financial activity (500 additional jobs). Manufacturing (300 more jobs). And natural resources and mining (100 more jobs).
Reported job losses include: Government (38,300 jobs lost). Leisure and hospitality (4,300 fewer jobs). Private education and health services (1,500 fewer jobs). and information (700 fewer jobs).
