Iconic actress Jodie Foster opened up about her harrowing childhood on Saturday's episode of The Graham Norton Show.
The 61-year-old star detailed a moment during the filming of her project Napolean and Samantha when she was 9 years old. The film depicts the perilous journey of two young children and their pet lion up a mountain.
Foster finds himself in mortal danger that is not written into the storyline. She revealed that the production involved three lions: the lead actor, a stuntman, and a stand-in. Thanks to this substitute lion, Foster faced an unexpected and terrifying challenge.
“I was working with Lion, the understudy, and I think he was being pulled along by a little piano wire,” the actress said.graham norton show“I finished the take and I was walking up the hill, and all I remember is seeing his mane come around. Then he picked me up from the side and put me in his mouth. It shook me and turned me around.”
What followed was a scene of utter chaos.
“And then all the crew members were running in the opposite direction and I was looking sideways at everyone, and they took away the equipment as well,” the “True Detective” star said.
“And I was watching everyone leave and I was like, 'What's going on?'” I remember thinking, “Oh, it's an earthquake!” Because I was shaking. The trainer said, “Put me down,'' and the lion was well-trained, so he opened his mouth and let me down. ” (Related: 'Really annoying': Hollywood legend pokes fun at Gen Z's work ethic)
