Joey Chestnut Wins 16th Mustard Belt, Eating More Than 60 Hot Dogs

Joey “Joes” Chestnut successfully defended his title on Fourth of July this year, winning his 16th mustard belt at the 2023 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Chesnutt’s parade was delayed by two hours due to the threat of thunderstorms, but the Hot Dog Eating Champion got off to a strong start and quickly outpaced the other big eaters. Although he didn’t break the world record of 76 hot dogs, Chesnut managed to consume a staggering 62 hot dogs in just 10 minutes, giving the annual contest a new place in the history books. Chestnut’s 62-dog win was just one short of the 63 dogs he brought to victory in 2022. Although he fell a little short of his previous efforts, Chestnut still managed to consume 13 more hot dogs than Jeffrey Esper, who ate his way. to the 2nd place finish. In the women’s competition, the returning champion also retained the title. Miki Sudo ate a total of 39.5 hot dogs and buns to earn her ninth consecutive mustard belt. Her closest competitor, Mayoi Ebihara, came in second after eating 33.5 hot dogs and buns.
