John Amos’ elder abuse investigation underway | Entertainment

An investigation into John Amos’ elder abuse is ongoing.

The 83-year-old “Good Times” actor has been hospitalized in Memphis, Tennessee since May, and his daughter’s remarks led to an investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

A press release sent by the group to People magazine read: “Mr. Amos has been a beloved member of our community for many years. He is also an avid supporter of our community and this sheriff’s office.

“We take allegations of crime very seriously. We can confirm that a complaint has been made with the Custer County Sheriff’s Office that Mr. Amos may be the victim of a crime.

“We are investigating the allegations thoroughly and are consulting with our partners at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Human Services. We have also been in contact with Mr. Amos and his attorneys.”

Concerns about the veteran actor’s health and safety began when his daughter, Shannon Amos, shared an emotional Instagram post about her father.

“On May 14th, I received a heartbreaking phone call from my father telling me he was in the hospital in Memphis, Tennessee in severe pain. He said, ‘He was out of the country and I could get him some help. Arranged so that the ICU revealed his life hanging on a thread.

“Our world has collapsed in the last two weeks. My father is a victim of elder abuse and economic exploitation.

“We are committed to working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and local authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice. Legal assistance is essential to ensure their prosecution and protect my father’s future.” The house is bare and we need a safe place to return.”

Shannon also created a GoFundMe with a goal of $500,000 to help with medical and legal costs.

Her elder abuse allegation is against an anonymous caregiver.

However, Jon told TMZ that the allegations were inaccurate, he wasn’t abused, and it’s unclear why Shannon started the fundraiser.

Besides “Good Times,” John is best known for his work on “Roots,” “Coming to America,” and “Locked Up.”
