Republican Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy called on the government’s wasteful spending on Fox News Friday evening.
Since February, Democrats have stepped up their pushbacks against Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Elon Musk. Doge has decided which sectors need to cut government spending. In “Ingraham’s Angle,” guest host Judge Johnny Pillo asked Kennedy about his efforts to stop Musk and Doge.
“I think, judgement, the efforts to manage Musk and his team’s spending are the most important in history and certainly the most important of my life,” Kennedy said. “My Democrat colleagues would prefer to ask, ‘Who needs to pay more in taxes?’ Americans want us to ask, “What happened to money?”
“Since 2019, the US population has grown by 2%. Expenditures have increased by 55%. President Biden’s favorite spending type was much higher,” Kennedy added. “This led to inflation and debt, but it wasn’t just quantity. It was quality, as Musk shows us.”
In a recent interview with Fox News, Musk sat down with the Doge team to discuss issues with federal spending and discuss ways to better manage agencies such as the Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Agency. Kennedy went on to say the government is guilty of “using porn.”
“A lot of this money we spend, what we spend, just the money sucks. They use porn. It’s better to spend this money on scratch tickets and blackjack,” Kennedy said.
“We don’t control inflation by lowering prices until we keep the economy under control. That way the cost of goods and services is cheaper. Until someone designs a tax law that appears to have been intentionally designed, until you manage your spending. That’s Econ 101,” Kennedy said.
In an example of wasted spending, Musk told Fox’s Brett Bayer on Thursday evening that the federal government spent almost $1 billion on a “10 Questions” survey that could easily cost just a few thousand dollars.
“Billion dollars for a quick online survey – ‘Do you like national parks?’ and there seemed to be no feedback loop on what’s going to happen in that survey,” Musk told Baier. “So there’s none of the investigation. That was insane.”
The pushback to Doge and Musk’s involvement began in February after Musk announced that he and President Donald Trump had agreed to overturn the US International Development Agency after discovering that they had wasted billions of taxpayer dollars. Lawmakers have since protested Doge’s efforts, with some saying that they are in a “war” with the administration.
