Journalist Tells Tucker Carlson ‘Ridiculous’ Reason BLM ‘Mob,’ Legacy TV Station Drove Her Out

Minneapolis journalist Liz Collin said Tucker Carlson, co-founder of the Daily Caller News Foundation, felt a Black Live Matter (BLM) “mob.”

Colin served as a reporter for CBS-owned WCCO-TV during the 2020 riots following the death of George Floyd. She left her position in January 2022 after nearly 14 years. While discussing the issue in “The Tucker Carlson Show,” Carlson asked why she believes she was punished for her husband’s career.

“Yeah, that was ridiculous. I finished my contract and eventually left. But I’m going,” Colin said.

“But why were you not allowed to do a newscast?” Carlson asked.

In January 2021, Collin’s husband, former Minneapolis Police Federation President Bob Kroll, retired after activists resigned from comments describing the riot as a “terrorist movement.” According to To FOX9.

Colin added that her relationship with Kroll is known to her station and that she “does not report” the police union’s issues, and that she recognized it as a conflict of interest.

“In the beginning, I knew I could clearly not report this story. There was a conflict of interest and I never reported any issues with the police union in Minneapolis,” Colin said. “We were married for a few years before this happened, but all of a sudden we were in this hidden marriage, as if we were supposed to start all the newscasts by talking about who our husband is.”

“Can you imagine why this is important in this world? But it seems like my name is beginning to appear. No matter what I do, it’s just a reminder. Liz Collin is married to Bob Kroll,” Collin said. “Literally, this will be printed on the story on our website. This is totally, absolutely crazy.”

Shortly after Floyd’s death, Minneapolis became the epicenter of the 2020 riots, with many buildings burning down and businesses being looted. The violence lasted for three days. (Related: Los Angeles Ice Riot costs $20 million to the city and is counting)

Some legacy media outlets have disregarded the destruction of Minneapolis, and NBC reportedly bans the word “riot” during its report.

a Star Tribune The report said nearly 150 buildings were later on fire, damaged more than 400 restaurants and retail stores, affected more than 1,500 locations, and caused property damage to millions of people.

Carlson asked if she told her she “no longer allowed her work” because of her husband’s position with police.

“Well, it lasts for a few weeks at first, and the weeks have changed to months,” Colin said. “I was still allowed to report a few things, but I’m no longer allowed to report anything related to the state, city government, or police. I have to get permission before I can call anyone in law enforcement.

“This has been my career. I have many good sources. I reported many of these issues long before I married Bob,” Colin added. “But all of a sudden it all became a problem. [I] I’d say my husband appeared on stage with President Trump. This is back in 2019, when he was running for reelection. And that really became a problem with the station. ”

Colin went on to explain that BLM later protested to both her and her husband, and at one point they even gathered outside her house.

“They showed up at the station. They held a protest requesting I was fired for marrying a police officer. They then differed in our home four times. They protested in the summer of 2020. “They showed up with me and my husband Pinata Efigie and beat us in our driveway.”

As of the August 2020 incident, more than 100 BLM activists have appeared at Colin’s home, demanding that both Kroll and Colin be fired from their positions. According to Go to the Minnesota Star Tribune.

“Welcome to South Africa. It’s crazy. And did you have kids at home?” Carlson asked.

“We weren’t home that weekend,” Colin said. “But yes, my child discovered this on YouTube a few years after it happened. I thought I’d protect it from him. But you can’t do it, I’m living, we live.”

CBS did not immediately respond to DCNF’s request for comment.
