Juan Jiron Jr. found guilty of child molestation, sexual misconduct with minors

Juan Giron Jr. stepped into Coconino County Superior Court earlier this month to face more than a dozen charges.

Last Friday, he was found guilty on all 12 counts. Now he could face life in prison.

The dozens of accusations span decades, and the first accusation of child sexual abuse dates back to 1993. The first police report was filed by Giron’s family in 2007.

In September 2018, Detective Lauren Nagler of the Flagstaff Police Department interviewed a 12-year-old girl who was living with Girón and claimed that Girón had inappropriately touched her.

By the end of the month, Nagler had conducted interviews and identified four potential victims, including Giron’s biological granddaughter.

Nagler testified that he had no physical or tactile evidence to gather by the time the crime was reported. Instead, the case relied heavily on the victim’s testimony.

The first witness to testify at Giron’s trial testified that Giron masturbated in front of her when he was under ten years old.

The young women who came forward attended most of the trial either sitting on the witness stand or behind prosecutor Michael Tuninck.

There was also the Giron support system. He has lived in Donnie’s Park for about 20 years and is part of a large family that has settled in Flagstaff for decades.

During a hunting trip, he learned of Nagler’s research from his wife of more than 40 years. He happily went to the Flagstaff Police Department and made a statement.

A video of Giron and Nagler’s conversation was played at the trial. In the clip, Jiron sits in a small red chair with a detective in a monitored room. When she asked, “How do you understand why you’re here?” He replied that her granddaughters had probably been charged with sexual abuse.

“I love my grandchildren and they love me,” he told Nagler. In the video, Giron admitted that he occasionally watches movies alone with his granddaughters, but has never touched her granddaughters inappropriately or exposed himself. he denied.

After a trial that lasted over a week, Giron was found guilty on all counts.

“The Coconino County Attorney’s Office thanks the jury for their efforts and the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office investigation. Each of the four victims in this case bravely testified at trial,” said the Coconino County Attorney’s Office. Ring said. “The defendant now spends the rest of his life in prison and is no longer a danger to the community.”

Giron will be sentenced on March 10th.
