Fox’s judge Johnny Piro said that if Coachella, a major music festival crowd, “didn’t throw too many stones” over the weekend, would have “booed” independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders when he showed up on stage.
The 83-year-old took the stage on Saturday, introducing a singer named Creiro and giving a political speech to thousands of attendees on climate change and workers’ rights. In “Five,” former Democrat Tennessee Rep. Harold Ford Jr. discussed Sanders’ appearance and suggested President Donald Trump benefited from attending and connecting with people who “not necessarily” agree with his views.
“Harold suggested that AOC and Bernie go to the UFC fight,” Fox host Jesse Watters said before Pillo jumped in.
“There’s a difference here,” Piro said. “First of all, we have an audience of the UFC, two viewers. There are a lot of blue-collar, families, working class. Everyone is family. They are family. They have people who love the fight.”
On Saturday evening, Trump appeared at the UFC 314 event in Miami, where he was greeted by a cheerful crowd, meeting supporters and several of the Cabinet members present. (Related: Democrats swipe Gavin Newsom because they’re not “real”)

Pilro continues, and the main difference in the reaction between Sanders and Trump is that when the president left, he began singing “America, America.”
“The president doesn’t have to stand up. He tries to sell a political message in a word. He comes in and 18,000 people are united in supporting him and the United States,” Piro said. “Now, juxtapose it with what’s going on at Coachella. You have an 83-year-old guy trying to speak to Generation Z, a political speech, when half of them are high and they’re half dressed.”
“They pay between $700 and $1,500 to get tickets and $30 for sandwiches,” Piro added. “He is trying to preach them about what he is talking about climate change, racism, capitalism, and he is politicizing musical events.
As Democrats struggle to rally behind cohesive leaders and messages, the party hit the lowest stability ever, according to a March CNN/SSRS poll. Despite her lack of leadership, Sanders and Democrat New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have become popular among their bases, and Ocasio-Cortez will lead the potential polls and take the seat of Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer if she chooses to run.
