The Federal Judge has refused to take on the challenge of Arizona’s top Republican members in order to cancel the designation of BAAJ NWAAVJO I’TAH KUKVENI, the ancestors of the Grand Canyon National Monument.
The parliament has been called a “land glove” since it was designated by President Joe Biden in 2023 by President Joe Biden.
Several high GOP members signed a lawsuit Submitted to the US District Court Last year, along with the Mohabe County, Colorad City and Fredonia communities.
The debate was argued that Biden had exceeded his authority and violated the 1906 ancient law.
The lawsuit also claimed that the existence of a monument would block access to mining activities. Plaintiffs say they will have tax revenue and employment opportunities.
On a Monday order, Judge Steven McNamy wrote that the parliament had not been in a position to sue because the body could not act on behalf of the nation.
The monument near the Grand Canyon National Park contains thousands of sites that are important, along with important water resources, as well as sacred and mentally important sites in multiple tribes. The designation protects the land and blocks new uranium mining in the area.
It is not clear whether the parliament will appeal.
HEIDI Mcintosh, a lawyer of Rocky Mountain Office in Earthjustice, said that non -profit organizations would keep the monument as needed.
“We were able to follow the leads of 11 tribal countries with a deep cultural connection with the monument, and Uranium so that future generations can benefit from this irreparable landscape. She keeps fighting to protect it from mining and other threats. ” 。
