Julie Karins, Goodyear city manager, announces resignation

Goodyear Mayor Julie Cullins announced her resignation in a letter to the city on Monday.

Callins told the Arizona Republic on Wednesday that he has accepted a job as deputy mayor of Johnson County, Kansas, which includes most of Kansas City.

A native of upstate New York, Kallins has served in the Arizona government for 23 years. In Yavapai County she spent 12 years before moving to Peoria. In 2018 she became Goodyear’s City Manager.

The move comes several years after her children, ages 30 and 25, moved separately to Kansas City. Kallins said that while she is enjoying her time at Goodyear, she is moving to be closer to her children, with her mother first.

Karins said the decision was the hardest of her life and that there are still many good things happening in Goodyear.

“I have a supportive mayor and council. You know, my team in the city is great,” Kallins said.

Her resignation is dated February 24th.
