Jury Convicts Man Who Beheaded Tech CEO Boss

A Manhattan Supreme Court jury on Monday found a man guilty of decapitating a tech company CEO, the New York Post reported.

Tyrese Haspil, a former assistant to tech entrepreneur Fahim Saleh, was convicted of first-degree murder in the Manhattan high-rise killing. according to According to the New York Post, the jury deliberated just three hours before finding Haspil guilty of all charges related to the 2020 murder of his boss, who was CEO of Nigeria-based scooter startup Gokada.

Prosecutors argued that Haspil's motive for the murder was to cover up his theft of $400,000 from Saleh, which he allegedly used to live a lavish lifestyle. According to the New York Post, Haspil admitted in testimony that he incapacitated Saleh with a Taser and then stabbed him to death in their $2.4 million apartment on East Houston Street. After the murder, Haspil dismembered Saleh's body with a power saw and placed the remains in plastic bags that were scattered throughout the apartment.

During the trial, Haspil reportedly took the stand to recount the events leading up to the attack. According to Haspil, Saleh commented on the extensive COVID-19 precautions he had taken, saying, “You're really taking COVID-19 seriously. Haspil is currently expected to serve life in prison pending sentencing, according to the New York Post.
