‘Just A Complainer’: MSNBC Guest Says IRS Whistleblower Isn’t Legitimate

Former U.S. attorney and MSNBC guest Harry Littman argued Wednesday that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whistleblower was not legitimate, but rather had political grievances.

Whistleblower Gary Shapley told CBS that the agency was prevented from taking steps during the Hunter Biden investigation that could lead to President Joe Biden himself.

“Harry, you know Merrick Garland, and I don’t know if you know David Weiss, but they—their denials were fierce. David Weiss was Trump’s appointee. and was detained by the White House even though all the other US attorneys had been sacked, precisely because he was to be independent and not interfered with Hunter, Hunter, the President’s son. .. And there have been plenty of reports that the plea deal he got was actually a heavier criminal charge than the average person would have gotten.Speaking of which, how about this? asked host Andrea Mitchell.

“Everything you just said is obviously true, but very unbelievable for a beginner. But second, I’m a whistleblower attorney. This guy is not a whistleblower. A whistleblower walks into the agency, follows procedures, and claims that something went wrong,” Littman said. “This guy is probably just a grunt with a political axe, or maybe just a pro.”

“Well, he was given whistleblower status by the Republican-led Ways and Means Commission,” Mitchell said. “That’s why we call him that. Ordinarily, I’d–withholding, say Agent or Officer–” (Related: ‘Somebody’s Lying’: Byron Donald Claims Merrick Garland Intervened in Hunter’s Case)

“I agree. They want to cancel the impeachment, even though it’s a nice Orwellian way of calling whatever you know,” Littman said. “What I mean by a whistleblower is someone who reports misconduct at a government agency and gets rejected all the way through the process. This guy, you know, Either he has political grievances, or he has professional grievances, but he’s just a man, he hasn’t been through any process, he’s not backed up, it’s unbelievable. “

Mr. Shapley testified with an unidentified whistleblower that Mr. Weiss was blocked in California from pressing charges against Mr. Hunter. Their claims are backed up by The New York Times (NYT).

Shapley testified before Congress, accusing Justice Department prosecutors of slowing the investigation into Hunter, and Shapley accused Weiss of tax charges against Hunter in California from 2016 to 2019. claimed to have tried Shapley said the charges would require the assistance of the Central District of California, and Weiss said in October that he would ask the special counsel to investigate Hunter if no charges were filed in California. The Justice Department denied the initial request.

Hunter was recently charged with felony gun possession and two misdemeanor counts of tax delinquency and pleaded guilty. Hunter will not face a prison sentence.
