Justice Department Reports Two Witnesses Testified Before Grand Jury Against Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell

DOJ Memorandum Reveals Limited Witnesses in Epstein and Maxwell Cases

Late Tuesday night, the Department of Justice (DOJ) disclosed in a memo that only two witnesses took the stand during the grand jury proceedings in the cases involving Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

The testimony presented to two significant judges in New York aligned with the information shared later during the trial, the DOJ reportedly contended. The Washington Examiner provided additional context regarding the memo.

The DOJ’s submission also addressed inquiries from both judges concerning the approval of materials from the grand jury.

According to the memo, “there was one witness (an FBI agent) during the Epstein grand jury trial,” and “two witnesses were present during the Maxwell grand jury trial.” The memo also emphasized that many victims discussed by law enforcement witnesses provided testimony during the trial. It noted the importance of compiling data that could identify victims, especially those who did not testify at the trial.

The memo stated, “Numerous victims whose accounts were related to Epstein and Maxwell provided testimony that was consistent with explanations from FBI agents and detectives from the New York City Police Department (NYPD). Some victims have publicly disclosed their experiences in civil lawsuits.”

This DOJ memorandum was submitted to a judge in the Southern District of New York, outlining a division deadline regarding the sealing of critical grand jury documents connected to Epstein and Maxwell. Earlier this month, former President Donald Trump urged the DOJ to take steps to release these documents.

The DOJ acknowledged it had not initially contacted or notified one victim listed in the grand jury transcript but claimed it has since reached out to all but one of those victims.

Additionally, the court instructed the government to compile an index of all edited grand jury transcripts and related materials, which should include summaries, page counts, dates, and any edits made.
